Come You Spirits

Come You Spirits is a rendition of the seminal soliloquy from Act I Scene V of Shakespeare's Macbeth. Lady Macbeth has received a letter from her husband, the Thane of Glamis, describing his encounter with the witches on the heathland, and of their prophecy that his destiny was as the next King of Scotland. Impatient for power, she resolves to sweep aside any obstacles which could possibly impede this prophecy’s imminent fulfilment, and to assist her husband’s assent by plotting to murder the current King, Duncan, whom they will be receiving as a guest that very night. For this project we collaborated with Ukrainian refugee actress, Alina Vinnichuk. The performance is a translation of the original Shakespearean text into Ukrainian language. The lyricality and potency of the language adds a layer of mystery and theatricality to the piece.Sending love and victory to all our Ukrainian friends and comrades, wherever you are. Слава Україні.
